1. [Q] Why the Configuration Tool dose not start up.

   [A] There are several reasons for that.
   
   * It might take some time to start up the Java environment of the web browser. Usually, it takes more than one minute to start up, but it depends on your PC's speed or your web browser.
   
   * You might not specify "localhost" at the "Do not use proxy servers for domains beginning with:" field which is in the "Manual Proxy Configuration" dialog box of your web browser's proxy configuration. If it is not specified, you have to add "localhost" in that field.
   
   * In case that you install P3P User Agent and Preference Bureau in your local PC, your web browser's proxy setting might be "Automatic proxy configuration"(this system does not support automatic proxy). Please make sure that your proxy server's HTTP address is "127.0.0.1" and port number is "9391".

   
   

2. [Q] An application error happened while registering individual information (by using InitWiz) at the end of the installation, and it was destroyed.

   [A] Please confirm your system's MFC version. If the MFC in your install directory is older than the MFC in your system (C:\WINNT\SYSTEN32 or C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM), Please rename the MFC42.DLL in your install directory to a different name such as "MFC42.OLD".

   
   

3. [Q] Sometimes, I can not get all the information of individuals or loose individual information in the middle of the environmental values when I use P3P CGI(Perl) which runs on the Microsoft IIS server.

   [A] Microsoft IIS can receive only up to 2000 byte of the http header information (Jigsaw can receive 8000 byte). Therefore, when you create a proposal with P3P Authoring Tool, Please consider that the type (data) of the individual information that the server wants to correct is within 2000 byte.

   
   

4. [Q] The final window that is cached is displayed instead of the informed consent window because there is cache in your intranet environment.

   [A] When you build a web site, add virtual parameters to the hyperlink where this system's CGI(Perl script) is executed.
   
   e.g.
   In case that
   <a href="../cgi-bin/p3p_dyn.cgi">p3p_dyn.cgi</A>
   Add dummy parameters like "abc" to the CGI.
   <a href="../cgi-bin/p3p_dyn.cgi?abc">p3p_dyn.cgi</A>
   

   
   

5. [Q] When I select "User Explorer" tab of the Configuration Tool, I see the pop up error dialog.

   [A] Data of the User Explorer is saved in the UTF8 format. Special characters that are not able to convert to the UTF8 might be registered to Preference Bureau.
   In that case, remove all components of the P3P and install the P3P again. When you install the P3P again, you better be careful not to register special characters! The special characters are such as Russian characters, or Roman numbers, or etc.
   
   

6. [Q] I can not download the plug-in that is used by the Configuration Tool.

   [A]
   (a) In case that you are NOT using proxy server
   
   1. Configure the web browser's proxy setting as no proxy.
   2. Start up Configuration Tool.
   3. It will automatically download the plug-in.
   
   (b) In case that you are using proxy server
   
   1. Configure the web browser's proxy setting as the proxy server that you use.
   2. Start up Configuration Tool.
   3．It will automatically download the plug-in.
   
   After you complete the download, please set up your web browser's proxy as below:
   IP address : 127.0.0.1
   Port number : 9391
   

   
   

7. [Q]The result of the collation is always failed even though I have registered the site information (privacy policy) to the Site Bureau.

   [A]The collation of the site information, it compares the HTML file that is registered to the Site Bureau with the site information that is currently opened to the public from the web server. Therefore, the site information that is registered to the web server has to be put in the binary mode. If you sent the site information in the text mode, please resend (put) the site information in the binary mode.

   
   

8. [Q]I can't log in to the Configuration Tool.

   [A]Please make sure that your JRE1.1 is the International version. The JRE1.1 has to be the International version.
   

   
   

9. [Q]If the time is past 5 minuts at informed consent screen, It does not work correctly,

   [A]The User Agent will be timeout in 5 minuts, because of the securyty policy.
   

   
   

10. [Q]I can not make the 3 levels enhanced data set by P3P Authoring Tool.

    [A]P3P Authoring tool supports only 3 levels of enhanced data set.
