History and Mission
  • New Media Development Association (or the NMDA) is a general incorporated foundation permitted by the Cabinet Office of Japanese Government. It was originally established in 1972 as Visual Information System Development Association to develop the Hi-OVIS (the world first completely interactive optical visual information system).
  • In October of 1984 the organization was renamed New Media Development Association, and modified and expanded to add study and technical consulting for new media and their further applications to its original activities.
  • The mission is to promote the spread on knowledge of New Media and to contribute to the realization of the information society.
